Expertise

Michaela Witzel’s area of specialism is IT contract law (including software licences, software maintenance, distribution agreements, procurement terms for IT services), international technology-related transactions (joint ventures and outsourcing) as well as copyright and database law with a focus on open source compliance.

Michaela advises companies from almost all sectors (in particular the financial and insurance industries, developers of business software applications, automotive, semi-conductor industry, energy) on the distribution of their technologies and software products and provides support on all aspects of contract and procedural law for IT projects, in particular regarding outsourcing and project agreements, cloud-based agreements (including GT&Cs) and the full range of contractual frameworks in the field of digitalisation.

In the outsourcing context, Michaela advises on regulatory requirements, above all in the banking and insurance industries.
